About Lucy

I am a 25 year old British-Australian artist who grew up in London, Paris, and Perth before moving to Naarm (Melbourne) in 2014. I work as an performer, director, writer, producer and production manager across theatre, comedy and circus.

I am the Co-Owner and Co-Artistic Director of an independent theatre company, Shakespearean Jeans. My theatre partner, Nicola Dobinson, and I have staged five shows through the company, since founding it in 2017.

In 2020 I completed my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, in Creative Writing and French. Throughout my degree I have enjoyed taking English and Theatre studies electives, as well as subjects at the VCA (Victorian College of the Arts) across acting, dance and lighting design. These past eight years I have also been training in circus, first starting at Women*s Circus in 2017 and since training with Circus Nexus, Circus Oz, Spin Circus and Gravity Dolls. I currently specialise in dance trapeze, roller skating and floor acrobatics.

I have a particular passion for Shakespeare and have been fortunate enough to study, perform in and work on much of the canon so far, including: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Othello, As You Like It, Hamlet, Cymbeline, Coriolanus, Titus Andronicus, The Taming of The Shrew, The Tempest, and Much Ado About Nothing. I am slowly working my way through the rest of his works.

Some of the highlights of my practice so far include involvement across many years of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Midsumma Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival where I've enjoyed seeing an enormous variety of shows and meeting passionate, like-minded individuals within the industry. I hope to continue to network and create art with many different people for years to come!
